An in-depth look at Human Rights in the Workplace

February 08, 2022 by Clay Williams, Tanvir Gill

On the heels of the federal government announcing they will re-introduce a new version of Bill C-36, an anti-hate law, lawyers Clay Williams and Tanvir Gill discuss human rights within the workplace. Clay is seeing a surge of human rights matters lately, from both sides — employers and employees not being treated fairly. Human rights are becoming an extremely vital and in-depth topic with plenty of case law and precedence.

Clay and Tanvir also talk about how the real estate market has shown no signs of slowing down as Tanvir gives an example of a single-detached home in Rutland that has grown in value in just two years. As always, send your legal questions to Clay and Tanvir at podcast@fhplawyers.com.

About Bill C-36: This bill will include the creation of a peace bond to prevent people from continuing to make racist comments or from carrying out hateful threats. The court order would be designed to prevent a hate crime from occurring. Bill C-36 would include penalties if it is breached, including up to four years imprisonment.
