A Long Standing Tradition Continues This Summer

May 28, 2021 by FH&P Lawyers

FH&P Lawyers has a proud tradition of developing and preparing students for a career in the law field. Each year the firm welcomes summer placement or articled students and gives them some real-world experience. This spring and summer FH&P Lawyers welcomes summer student Trinity Schredl, a second-year student at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus.

She just finished her second year in the Bachelor of Arts program and is a soon-to-be political science major. We get to know a little bit more about Trinity.

Where are you from and what high school did you graduate from?

I am local to West Kelowna though I spent some time growing up in Portland, Oregon. I started school in the United States however moved back in elementary school which allowed me to graduate from Mount Boucherie Secondary School in 2019.

Why did you choose to attend UBC Okanagan?

It is the closest to my family, friends and I love living in Kelowna. I love the fruit season and visiting the orchards for the fresh fruit, and I love the weather change; we have four distinct seasons that bring all different things to enjoy.

What attracted you to FH&P Lawyers for a summer placement?

I applied to work at FH&P for the summer because it has a wide variety of law that the lawyers practice. I intend on applying to law school and becoming a lawyer in the future and working at FH&P will give me an introduction to how working in a law firm is, the different areas of law and will give me insight into what types of work lawyers do in a day. The firm has a rich history and has seen the growth of some lawyers to judges and Masters. I am very excited to learn more about the firm and the people within it!

What are the goals you want to accomplish while working at FH&P Lawyers this summer before heading back to UBC Okanagan?

This summer I hope to gain a better understanding of what it is like to work in a law firm, what types of law I might want to practice, how to work in a professional environment and grow my professional network. I would also love to get some tips and tricks for taking the LSAT, applying to law schools and succeeding in law school.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I am working towards a law degree and a career as a lawyer so after I finish my undergraduate degree, I plan to apply to law school.

Outside of the office what do you like to do?

I am an avid volunteer. I have been volunteering with the Westside Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) ever since I was old enough to drive and I helped my parents coach before that. I started playing soccer around age six and my parents always coached my teams as well as my sister's teams. When I was twelve, I began refereeing soccer and continued to help my parents coach my sister. When I got my license at seventeen, I started to coach my own teams. This summer I will be helping with the under-nine girl's teams for WYSA which will mark my third year of coaching on my own away from my parents.

In addition to my involvement in soccer, I have volunteered at my local vet clinic, the food bank, my sister's schools, and all of my former schools.

FH&P Lawyers is proud to welcome Trinity to our family for the summer.
