Looking at the Law after a natural disaster

November 30, 2021 by Clay Williams, Tanvir Gill

Lawyers Clay Williams and Tanvir Gill discuss some of the recent events in BC and how they affect businesses and people’s livelihood. With the major storm that rolled through Kelowna reminds home and business owners to check their insurance policies as some may not cover you completely.

For example, the people in Merritt that have had their homes destroyed by the recent flooding may not be completely covered by their insurance. Clay and Tanvir investigate that and answer some important real estate questions about closing a deal in the face of a natural disaster and a force majeure clause.

One other topic that our team discusses is the rumor of the changing capital gains exemption on your principal residence.
