Tanvir Gill: Kelowna Chamber Ambassador

April 12, 2021 by Tanvir Gill

Associate Tanvir Gill is not only a promising lawyer but has been part of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Ambassador program for two years.

Tanvir, who was called to the Bar almost three years ago has been building a successful practice at FH&P Lawyers in business law, real estate, and estate planning. She completed her bachelor’s degree with a major in Political Science in Vancouver before a short stop in Kamloops brought her to Kelowna. She joined the Chamber in January of 2019.

As an ambassador of the Kelowna Chamber, Tanvir serves the one-year term with a front-line role by welcoming members to the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce with a welcome bag and a member plaque. Once COVID-19 restrictions are loosened and events start to open up Tanvir will greet attendees at several Chamber events and assist with registration. The position is designed to enhance the connectivity of the Chamber with its members.

The Chamber just recently highlighted Tanvir with a featured article:

What is your position / title and company, and what do you do there?

I am a lawyer with FH&P Lawyers LLP and I practice mainly in the areas of Business Law, Commercial & Residential Real Estate and Wills & Estates with the firm.

How long have you been in the Okanagan? If you aren’t originally from the valley, what led you to call the Okanagan ‘home’?

I grew up in Surrey B.C. but began thinking about moving to Kelowna around 2014. I spent a short time in Kamloops but moved to Kelowna officially in 2018 when I completed law school. Although having my family in the City made it an easy decision, I found Kelowna attractive because it was and still is a quickly growing City with booming agricultural, wine, technology, small business and construction industries. As a younger lawyer with an interest in real estate and corporate law, I knew I could learn and develop a practice in a City like Kelowna.

What do you enjoy most about your Ambassador role with the Kelowna Chamber?

As an ambassador, I was able to learn what the Chamber offers to the community and business owners. I enjoy connecting with new members of the Chamber to learn about their individual businesses and to see how the Chamber can help them with their current and future needs. As someone new to Kelowna, becoming an ambassador was a great way to get involved in the community.

What are you looking forward to / planning for the future?

I am looking forward to the day that we can all enjoy travelling and the opportunity to gather with family and friends again. If anything, I think COVID forced many people to think through their priorities and objectives. I like that Kelowna continues to grow, we are seeing that with what our current real estate climate looks like. I’m excited to grow my practice in the Okanagan!
