FH&P Welcomes Another New Associate, Georgia Fischer

June 14, 2023 by Georgia Fischer

FH&P Lawyers have added another local product to their legal team, welcoming Georgia Fischer as the firm’s newest litigator.

Born in England but raised in Kelowna from a young age, Fischer is fresh off articling with another local firm and is excited to be getting her start with FH&P, building a practice in the areas of civil litigation, estate planning and litigation, residential and commercial real estate, and family law.

“I am thrilled to be embarking on my career with FH&P Lawyers and seeing where the practice takes me,” said Fischer, who was recently called to the BC Bar on May 17. “Having established my roots in the community, I look forward to giving back and providing legal services to the Okanagan in the various practice areas that FH&P offers.”

After high school, Fischer received an Honours Bachelor of Management degree from the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, graduating in 2019. During her undergraduate studies, Fischer served as the founder and president of Savvy Seniors, a student club that taught seniors in Kelowna how to use technology to stay connected with family members.

The following fall, Fischer headed east where she obtained her law degree at the University of Alberta. During law school, Fischer worked as a caseworker for the University of Alberta Student Legal Services, providing criminal defence services to underrepresented individuals, and as a member of the Women’s Law Forum that provided services to Kindred House (a harm reduction and support center for women, transgender, and two-spirited individuals involved in prostitution).

Upon completing law school, Fischer articled with a Kelowna firm where she had spent the previous four summers as a legal assistant in various practice areas and as a summer law student.

“We are happy to have Georgia join the team and happy that she chose FH&P to start her legal career,” said Managing Partner Dylan Switzer. “She is very familiar with the community, growing up here, so we are confident she will be a great fit. We look forward to supporting her as she builds her practice with FH&P.”

Outside of the office, Fischer enjoys the outdoor Okanagan lifestyle whether that be hiking, mountain biking, paddleboarding, visiting wineries, or enjoying a walk by the lake with her dog and husband.
